Doug started  working with bonsai in 1992.  He gained knowledge through reading various materials and trial and error.  Doug later joined the NVBS which allowed him to network with and learn from professional bonsai artists and mentors.  After a 15 yr hiatus from bonsai, he resumed practicing bonsai 2020, joined NBVS again and has quickly regrown his collection.  He continues to develop his skills by working regularly with Bonsai professionals such as Sergio Cuan, Todd Schlafer, and Jim Doyle.     Doug works with most of the popular bonsai species, however, he favors deciduous trees.  He also started making his own bonsai pots in 2023.
