​Dr. Joe Gutierrez has been doing bonsai for over 55 years.  A long time member of the NVBS, he has held demonstrations and workshops both domestically and internationally.  Although Joe has worked with many species, he is primarily interested in pines and azaleas.  He has worked with the National Azalea Society to help them groom plants that make great pre-bonsai material.  Joe is also interested in collected material and has done collecting in the Colorado Rockies, Oregon, New York and the Florida Keys.   He has served as the PBA president and has served on the National Bonsai Foundation Board. He has also been an active volunteer at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum for many years.  Joe lives in the McLean, VA area and prefers one on one sessions, at mutually convenient times.  Joe can be reached at jedgutierrez14@gmail.com or (202) 262-9008.

This is a tree is a Douglas Fir collected by Joe in the Colorado Rockies over 35 years ago.  It now resides at the Denver Botanical Gardens.  It also serves as the NVBS logo tree!
