​          Rich has been studying bonsai for over 25 years.  Rich has sought out opportunities to work with and take workshops with most of the top bonsai artists in the US and abroad to gain additional perspectives on styling and technical skill development.  He is a graduate of the Ho Yoku School of Bonsai, which is run by UK bonsai artist, Colin Lewis.  Rich studied with Ryan Neil of Bonsai Mirai for more than 8 years.  He has completed the 3-year intensive bonsai program with Bjorn Bjornholm at Eisei-en.  Rich enjoys conifers the most, with an emphasis on junipers.  He takes a wholistic approach to bonsai by focusing on horticultural practices, artistic styling approaches, and technical skill development in order to achieve a successful bonsai experience.  Rich currently lives in the Williamsburg area and is available via email, Zoom, or phone consultations.  He is also available for pre-scheduled one-on-one consults when in the NOVA area.  Rich can be reached at crbsar@verizon.net or (202) 255-9526.​​​​​​
